1. The Creation of Lord Ganesha
According to the Shivpuran Jaya and Vijaya, friends of Parvati observed that all the others including nandi, mostly used to obey Lord Shiva. They convinced Parvati to create Lord Ganesha who would follow her instructions. Hence Parvati made Ganesha as her son and created him from the dirt of her body.
2. Ganesha's Body Color
According to the Shiva Maha Puran, the body color of Lord Ganesha is always green and red.
3. Avatar of Lord Krishna
According to the Brahmavavart Puran, It was Goddess Parvati who kept a Punyak fast for a baby boy. Due to a result of this fast, it was Lord Krishna himself who decided to be the son of Parvati in another form of Ganesha.
4. Ganesha's head loss
It was said that when every god was blessing Lord Ganesha, Shani Dev was not looking at him. When Parvati asked Shani the reason behind this then Shani replied that if he will look at Ganesha then Ganesha will loose his head. When Parvati insisted him to look at Ganesha, the result was Ganesha's head loss.
5. Ganesha's Life Back
Due to the head loss, Ganesha had lost his life, but it was Lord Srihari who flew towards the north direction on his Garud & reached the river side of Pushpbhadra. At this riverside a newlyborn baby elephant was sleeping with his mother, Shrihari cut the head of the baby elephant & fixed it on Ganesha's body & finally brought him back to life.
According to the Puran, Tulsidevi was once crossing the Ganges while Ganesha was meditating. She felt attracted to Ganesha and proposed him to marry her. Ganesha refused the proposal which made her angry. Due to this Tulsi cursed him & in return Ganesha cursed Tulsi that she will become a plant.
7. Ganesha's Two Wives
According to the Shiv Maha Puran, Ganesha's marriage was fixed with Riddhi and Siddhi. He had two sons Shetra and Laabh.
It was once when Parshuram went to meet Lord Shiva in Mount Kailash. However, Ganesha did not let him in as Shiva was meditating. Parshuram got angry and attacked Ganesha with a weapon handed by Shiva himself. Respecting his father's weapon, Ganesha did not stop the attack and took it in his teeth. His one tooth got cut, and since then he was called as Ekdant!

10. Destroying Tripurasura
According to Shiva Maha Puran, At the time When Lord Shiva was going to destroy Tripurasura, suddenly a 'celestial announcement' (Akashvani) happened saying that Shiva will not able to destroy the Tripurasura untill he worship's Lord Ganesha. Hearing this announcement Lord Shiva called Bhadrakali & then performed Gajanan Puja. Due to effect of this Lord Shiva won the battle.
