The 78-year-old Khoo Kay Peng is the chairman of Malayan United Industries which is practically an investment holding firm & has major stakes in the high-end luxury brands and also the hotels. According to the Forbes, Khoo Kay Peng was ranked 44th in the Top 50 Richest Men of Malaysia in 2015.
Angeline Francis Khoo was all set to join the Family Business until she married the man of her choice without her father's consent. Infact, her love story is just decades back of the year of 2008 when she was studying at Oxford University. There, she met the Caribbean born data scientist Jedidiah Francis. The duo fell in love with each other & decided to get married. However, she had to stay opposite to her father's consent in order to marry the man of her choice.
Eventually, Angeline realized that her father could not understand the values of her love and decided to go ahead with her marriage. Their marriage was held in a small ceremony with not more than 30 guests in the attendance. Angeline always decided to stick by her man even when no one from her family decided to attend her marriage. Angeline has now turned to 34 and she is now a fashion designer. However, she revealed that she had no idea about her father's wealth until it was disclosed in the court during the divorce proceedings of her parents.
However, she decided to take an independent decision by not settling down with her father's wealth but to settle down with the man she loves the most.
In an interview with The Straits Times, she said:
"I've been fortunate to have that perspective: you can have money and it's a blessing; it allows you to do things and gives you options, but there are also things that come with it, such as control. Money amplifies negative characteristics and that can cause problems. To walk away from that was actually very easy. I didn't even consider it."
