Legendary actor Dr. Shreeram Lagoo passes away
Veteran actor Shreeram Lagoo, the fierce actor from ‘Gharonda’, ‘Pinjra’ and nearly a hundred films, has passed away in Pune on December 17, at the age of 92.
He also portrayed the role of Professor Gopal Krishna Gokhale in Sir Richard Attenborough’s ‘Gandhi’. His role in ‘Gharonda’ earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor Award in 1978. His Marathi film ‘Samna’ was screened at the 25th Berlin International Film Festival in 1975.
He was also known for Rajesh Khanna’s ‘Thodisi Bewafai’, ‘Des Pardes’, Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Muqadar Ka Sikander’, ‘Shriman Shrimati’, Kamal Haasan’s ‘Sadma’ and more.
This great actor was not just an actor but a prolific doctor as well. Before becoming an actor he did MBBS, MS and practised medicine and surgery in Pune, India and Tabora, Tanzania. He started acting in plays while attending the medical college in Pune.
