    Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was the full name of Gandhiji. Other names of Gandhiji are-Mahatma Gandhi, Bapu Ji, and Gandhi Ji.
    He was born on 2 October 1869 in Porbandar (also known as Sudamapuri) which is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti, Parents of Gandhiji were Karamchand Gandhi (father) & Putlibai Gandhi (mother).

    Gandhiji was married to Kasturba Gandhi in 1883 but later on, she left for heaven in 1944. Gandhiji was blessed with four children namely Harilal, Manilal, Ramdas, and Devdas.

    Gandhiji is known for Indian Independence Movement, and Peace movement. Gandhiji was a Lawyer, Politician, Activist, and Writer by occupation and the cause of death was his Assassination. A Hindu nationalist namely-Nathuram Godse assassinated Gandhiji on 30 January 1948 by firing three bullets into his chest. Gandhiji died at the age of 78 years on 30 January 1948 in New Delhi.

    Its remembered as the Death Anniversary Day of Gandhiji and is also called as Sarvodaya day. It marks the assassination of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi in 1948, by Nathuram Godse. On Martyr’s Day the president, the vice president, the prime minister, the defense minister, and the three Service Chiefs gather at the samadhi at Raj Ghat memorial and lay wreaths decorated with multi-color flowers. The armed forces personnel blow bugles sounding the Last Post. The inter-services contingent reverses arms as a mark of respect. A two-minute silence in memory of Indian martyrs is observed throughout the country at 11 AM. Participants hold all-religion prayers and sing tributes. On this day, we pay homage to the victims who fought for the freedom, welfare, and progress of India and sacrificed their lives.
