Finally, the most awaited flick ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ of Alankrita Shrivastava hits the silver screen on Friday, 21 July 2017 after facing all the threats of ban and debates movie came out as a winner. Its first trailer was released last year in the month of October. It was premiered at the Tokyo and Mumbai Film Festivals and won the ‘Spirit of Asia Prize’ and the Oxfam Award for ‘Best Film on Gender Equality’.
Later, it didn’t go well with censor board and they refused to certify the flick and stated that states “The story is lady oriented their fantasy above life. There are contagious sexual scenes, abusive words, audio pornography and a bit sensitive touch about one particular section of society”.
Though Movies is produced by Prakash Jha, it is Mr. Pahlaj Nihalani who created the buzz and gave all much-needed attention for its release.
Lipstick under my Burkha is a worth watching lady oriented movie with all bold and colorful dramas secretive lives of small town women. Women are always with all societies norms of do’s and don’ts.
The length of ‘Ghoonghat’ and ‘Burkha’ is characters certificate of women that butcher the dreams, desires, and feelings of women.
This movie is not about women from any particular religion or group but about women living in the gloominess of autocracy.
