1. Bata Shoes
We have been obsessed with Bata- being an Indian brand but you’ll be glad to know that it’s a family-owned global footwear and fashion accessory brand having headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland. Bata Shoe Company was found in 1894 in Zlín, Moravia by Tomáš Baťa, his brother- Antonín and his sister- Anna, whose family had been cobblers for generations.
2. Indian Motorcycles
This is an American brand launched 1928 originally called Hendee Manufacturing Company but was renamed to Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company in 1928. They actually opened their first showroom in India only in 2014.
3. Hindustan Unilever Ltd.
This company is owned by Anglo-Dutch company Unilever, a company that has faced it’s fair share of controversy in our country. Unilever actually owns a 67% controlling share in Hindustan Unilever as of March 2015 and are their holding company.
Have you heard the name of Colgate-Palmolive? They appear to be Indian but is an American multinational consumer products company focusing on production and distribution of household, healthcare, oral hygiene products, personal care, such as- soaps, detergents, etc.
5. STAR TV
Your Favourite channel Star Plus is an American mass media corporation that stands for STAR- Satellite Television Asian Region. Its Asian TV service owned by 21st Century Fox and is structured into 3 units – STAR Greater China, STAR Indian, and Fox International Channels Asia.
Do you know your favorite brands such as Maggi and KitKat is Indian. Nestle is a transnational food and beverage company headquartered in Vevey, Vaud, Switzerland and is not an Indian company.
7. Bose Speakers
Even after having a Bengali Name its not Indian rather an American corporation based in Framingham, Massachusetts that deals in luxury audio equipment. It was, founded in 1964 by an Indian American named Amar Bose.
8. Tide Detergent
Tide is manufactured by Proctor and Gamble which was introduced at the market in 1946, an American Company. Further, it spread its wings around the globe.
